The Last Flight of the Shadows Pt.1

The sun set over the hills as wind blew softly through the trees. The first stars in the sky were starting to show up now and although they shed barely any light into the ground, their presence felt reassuring to the man and woman moving quietly through the woods. Technically they were out hunting, but they weren't the kind going after deer or rabbits of course. They were too heavily armed for that. And their attire was not considered remotely legal for any civilian to be wearing. Lynx gazed up at the lights in the sky. For the moment she was in her own place in the world. In the forest clearing she felt at home, being reminded of growing up at her family town in Dakota. "Is there a problem?" came a voice to her side. Jacket stood off near the trees, looking back towards her. Lynx shook her head. "It's nothing." she said. "I was just watching the sky." The Dishonored Assassin

He's a stubborn bastard, I'll give him that. Most people just know him by one of his monikers people give him. ‘The Hooded One', 'The Painted Man', or 'The Grey Hunter’ are a couple of the more respectful ones. ‘The Savage’, ‘The Warlock Assassin’ or ‘That Murdering Lunatic That Always Gets Away’ are some of the less flattering ones. He’s a Metis, or mixed. White father with a Mohawk mothe

An Oral History of the Pandoran Conflict: C4

LAS SANTUARIO: PROVINCE OF NUEVO AZTLAN. [I conduct my interview with Francisco Contreras in his office in the main administration building of Sanctuary. What strikes me the most about the place is that it doesn't feel at all like the office of a military commander. Two of the walls are lined with leather bound and paperback books, ranging from heavy tomes on civil and criminal law, to agricultural technologies and human history. The other wall is taken up by fictional tales, from The Odyssey, to The Last of the Mohicans. "Reading's in my blood." Contreras says. "My father wanted me to be a lawyer, but after I left the academy, I felt myself

Avatar and District 9

About a year back, there were two great science fiction movies. One of them was about a paraplegic man who uses a body called an avatar to live, and eventually fight for a tribe of indigenous aliens against a human mega-corp. It was called Avatar (no relation to the great animated series). The other one was about a spaceship full of aliens landing in South Africa and being forced into apartheid style conditions. It was known as District 9. One was made by a highly successful and experienced director known as James Cameron. The other one was made by a Canadian-South African 3D animator turned director known as Neil Blomkamp. Both of them were
